Material Handler

Patriot Forge Co. supplies carbon, alloy and stainless steel forgings with heat treatment, machining and testing. Patriot Forge, founded in 2001, is the largest custom open-die forging company in Canada and a leader in the global market. Through continual upgrades, we have been able to enhance our manufacturing capabilities to better serve the needs of our ever-evolving customer base from our two facilities in Brantford, and Paris, Ontario. We are currently recruiting for a Material Handler to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Stage all product to proper lay down areas as scheduled by the Lead Hand or Supervisor
  • Move machined parts from the Machine Shop to the next staging area of the plant
  • Assist at Shipping as required by Lead Hand or Supervisor
  • Assist operators with setup as required using Crane/Forklift
  • Dump all scrap bins
  • Assist with subcontract loading and moving parts for NDT when assigned by Lead Hand or Supervisor
  • Maintain machine department area housekeeping (5S)
  • Maintain Oil distribution program (i.e. ensure stock on hand at all times; notify supervision of stock levels) – Brantford only)
  • Distribute shop supplies
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as required
  • Relieve for breaks in the Machine Shop as needed when adequately trained
  • Maintain organization of yard
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Perform grinding as required
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management
  • Work various shifts as assigned

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • Completion of grade 12 an asset
  • 2 years’ experience working in a similar position is an asset
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, coordination and priority setting skills to complete multiple tasks and projects
  • Understand and carry out written/verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
